Stir­ling aircraft # LK 151 failed to return from secret operations dropping supplies and agents over Denmark. Two RAAF and four RAF members of the crew were also killed. A Memorial plaque has been erected at Rebild Hills, Denmark, to the 69 Allied Airmen killed in action while drop­ping supplies to the Danish underground forces fighting against the Germans during the occupation of Denmark 1940 - 1945. The inscription reads: They risked darkness, evil and danger in their fight for freedom and peace. Therefore, we will remember them for all time to come. With Denmark's thankfulness. REIMER, ALVIN WILBERT FS(P) R61467. From Vancouver, British Columbia. Died Jan. l2/42 age 21. #138 Squadron (For Freedom). On December 28, 194$ the crew of Whitley aircraft # Z 9385 were engaged in a special operation when the aircraft crashed and burned, during an air battle, at the Stradishall aerodrome, Gloucester, England. FS. J.R. Petts and Sgt. G.R.S. Gordon (RAF) were also killed. FS. Reimer succumbed to his injuries in January. He had previously gone missing during operations with #51 Squadron on June 22, 1941 and was found safe eight miles off Scarborough, England on June 24, 1941. Flight Sergeant Pilot Reimer is buried in the Haverhill Cemetery, Suffolk, England.
